Sanju Vishwanath Samson (born 11 November 1994) is an Indian cricketer who represents the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Indian National Cricket, Team.
A wicketkeeper / right-handed batsman, he made his Twenty20 international debut for India against Zimbabwe on 19 July 2015. He is the youngest batsman to score 1,000 runs in IPL and is the youngest cricketer to captain a Ranji Trophy. Kerala cricket team in domestic cricket.
He is the youngest player to score a half-century in the IPL and Champions League Twenty20, which was achieved on 29 April 2013 at the age of 18 in a match between Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Sanju was chosen as the "young young player".

Early life
Sanju was born on 11 November 1994 in Thiruvananthapuram to Lily and Vishwanath Samson. His father, Samson, was previously a police constable in the Delhi Police. Sanju attended Rosary Senior Secondary School, Delhi and did high school from St. Joseph's Higher Secondary School, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. He earned his B.A. Degree from Mar Ivanios College, Thiruvananthapuram. He is a pious Roman Catholic of the Latin Church.

CAREER
Junior cricket
Sanju was a member of the Kerala Under-13 cricket team. He captained the team and scored a century in his first match and scored four centuries in five matches in the South Zone Under-13 tournament. He was also the captain of the Under 16 and Under 19 Kerala State cricket teams. As a member of the Kerala Under 16 team, he had scored an unbeaten 200 off just 138 balls in the Vijay Merchant Trophy South Zone match against Goa. - The highest run-scorer in the Indian season and at the age of 15 was selected to play in the Ranji Trophy for Kerala.
His techniques over time brought the ball into the Kerala Under-19 squad. His continued exit in the Cooch Behar Trophy (domestic under-19 championship) earned him a place in India's squad for the 2012 Under-19 Asia Cup.
Sanju represented India in the Under 19 Asia Cup tournament held in Malaysia in June 2012. He scored a century in the finals at the Under-19 Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates in 2013, helping India retain the cup.
In 2014, BCCI appointed Sanju Samson as the vice-captain of Team India for the 2014 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Sanju was in excellent form in that tournament. In the 3rd match, Group A, ICC Under-19 World Cup in Sharjah, 19 February 2014, Sanju scored 85 runs in 45 balls against Papua New Guinea.
In the Indian Premier League IPL
He was a member of the Kolkata Knight Riders' pool of players in 2012, but did not play. In 2013, he signed for Rajasthan Royals. The Hindu was praising his performance, saying, "The Kerala cricketer's quiet performance gave him a lot of fans and he could prove to be one of the answers to the Royals' problems in the middle order." Cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle tweeted seeing Sanju's bat: "I must confess that I love the look of Sanju Samson. For the first time I saw him playing a good crop coming from Kerala." Rajasthan Royals were chasing a tough target of 172 when Sanju boosted the batting order to No.3. He scored 63 off 41 balls and his partnership of 68 off 46 balls with Shane Watson laid the foundation for Rajasthan Royals victory. He won the man-of-the-match award for his performance which earned praise from all quarters for the quality of the stroke and the closing of the innings. After an uncertain debut, he hit Murali Karthik for two consecutive sixes and the commentators called him a "talented man with great prospects".
With that half-century, he became the youngest player to score a half-century in an IPL match. He achieved this feat at the age of 18 years 169 days and broke the previous record set in 2008 by Srivats Goswami of Royal Challengers Bangalore, who achieved this feat at the age of 19 years 1 day. On 5 May 2013, 'Noise Soch' won 'award in their fourth IPL match for Rajasthan Royals against Pune Warriors. He was in a tense situation and contributed in a 25-run partnership with Stuart Binny in 2.1 overs to give the Royals another win. In the 2013 IPL second qualifier match, Sanju failed to click as he scored 4 runs off the ball off Lasith Malinga. Rajasthan Royals were ranked No. 3 in IPL 2013 and qualified for the Champions League Twenty20 competition to be held in India in 2013. Sanju won the best young player award in IPL in IPL 2013 through a survey conducted on the official IPL website. Prior to the IPL 2014 season, Rajasthan Royals retained Sanju. He was one of the team's most consistent performers, where he emerged as one of the top run-scorers for the team. But his performance was not enough as Rajasthan Royals lost their last league match against Mumbai Indians in a thrilling match. Sanju Samson himself was the top scorer for Rajasthan in that match with a score of 74 runs.
For the 2015 IPL season, Rajasthan Royals performed well in knockout matches in the league. But Sanju Samson could not do justice to his cause as he recorded only 50 plus scores in 15 matches played. The score led to the defeat against Mumbai Indians, where they scored 76 runs off 46 balls and almost won them over. In the 2016 IPL auction, IPL franchise Delhi Daredevils signed him for Rs 4.2 crore. Sanju scored his first T20 century in IPL 2017 against Rising Pune Supergiant on 11 April 2017 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune. In January 2018, he was awarded by Rajasthan Royals for Rs. Bought for 8 crores in the 2018 IPL auction. On 15 April 2018, Sanju scored 92 runs in 45 balls (with two 4 and 10 6) M for Rajasthan Royals. Playing against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, the home ground of the protest, and was declared "Man of the Match". On 29 March 2019, Sanju Samson scored his second IPL century against Sunrisers Hyderabad and scored 102 runs from just 55 balls which included 10 fours and 4 sixes.
It was also the first century of the IPL 2019 tournament. The 18th over bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar in that match was a special one for Sanju Samson as he gave away 24 runs in that over, which included 5 fours (6, 4, 4, 2, 4, 4). In the next match on 31 January 2019. Against Chennai Super Kings, after scoring 2 more runs, he became the youngest batsman to score 2000 runs in IPL history.
Ranji Trophy 2013-14
Sanju had a great start in the Ranji Trophy 2013-14. In the first match in Guwahati, Assam scored 323 runs on the board. Sanju scored a career-best 211 to give Kerala a significant 39-run lead. He hit 23 fours and 5 sixes to score his first double century in the Ranji Trophy. Sanju continued his superb form against Andhra Pradesh in the second match at Thalassery, where he scored 115 runs in 281 balls with 12 fours and 2 sixes to help Kerala hit a four. Total number of 486 in first innings. In the second innings, he scored an unbeaten 51 off 73 balls: 10 fours and a six.
He was the second highest scorer of the second round Ranji Trophy 2013-14, scoring 377 runs in 188 matches at an average of 188.5. In all, he played six matches (11 innings) and finished as Kerala's highest run-scorer, scoring 530 runs at an average of 58.88.
International cricket
On 5 August 2014, Sanju was selected in a 17-man squad to play against England in 5 ODIs and a Twenty20. However, he did not make it to the final team in any match and remained the backup keeper for MS Dhoni.
Samson was often called to the national team, but never made it to the playing eleven until he made his international debut in 2015 against Zimbabwe in Harare.
In October 2019, he was placed in India's Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for the series against Bangladesh.
In November 2019, he was again called up in the T20I series against West Indies vs India after Shikhar Dhawan was injured. He received a rousing reception in his hometown Thiruvananthapuram where the second match was planned. He played the third ODI against Sri Lanka. He hit a strong six on the first ball, but was lbw out on the second ball.
He was selected for the T20I series of New Zealand's tour of India and was part of the playing XI as an opener. Although he could not make the desired impact with the bat, his fast bowlers in deep field paid attention to his fielding.
