1. Butterfly story A man found a cocoon of a butterfly. 

One day a small opening appeared. He sat down and kept looking at the butterfly for several hours as he struggled to squeeze his body through the small hole. Then it stopped as if it could not go forward. So the man decided to help the butterfly. He took a pair of scissors and snatched away the remaining pieces of cocoon. The butterfly emerged easily, but had a swollen body and shrunken wings. The man kept watching, hoping that at any moment the wings would grow large enough to support the body, yet this did not happen! In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling.

                                       

It was never able to fly. What the man did not understand in his kindness and haste: the cocoon and struggle restricted by the butterfly to get through the opening was a way to force fluid from the body into the wings so that it was once ready for flight Go was achieved. Sometimes the struggle is what we need in our life. Going through life without any hindrance will make us crippled. We will not be as strong as we could have been and we will never fly. For discussion or writing:

1. What would you have done by seeing a butterfly struggling to get out of the cocoon? 
2. How did you feel what this man did? Was he "doing the best he could, what he knew, or didn't know"? Do you see this action as a mistake? 
3. Give the meaning of these lines: “Sometimes conflict is exactly what we need in our lives. We will be crippled by going through life without any hindrance. Explain these two statements in your own words, and give examples from real-life examples of each, yourself or a member of your family or someone you know well. 

2. Boy Giving Blood

 There was a little girl named Liza who was suffering from an illness and needed blood from her five-year-old brother, who miraculously survived the same disease and developed the antibodies needed to fight the disease. Had finished The doctor explained the situation to his younger brother and asked the boy if he would be ready to give his blood to his sister.
                               
                                             
I watched him hesitate for only a moment before taking a deep breath and saying, "Yes, I will do it if it will save my sister Liza." As the transfusion took place, he lay on the bed next to his sister and smiled, as we all did, the color coming back on her cheeks. Then his face turned pale and his smile faded. He looked at the doctor and asked with a trembling voice, "Shall I start dying immediately?" The boy had misunderstood the doctor due to being so small. He thought he was going to give all his blood to his sister, then died. For discussion or writing

1.  Can you see how the young boy would really believe that by giving blood to his sister, he was helping her survive and that he would die? 
2. Do you ever feel that you wanted to help someone else so that you could die in the process of helping them?
